Synopsis:
Finlay and Vero need a weekend away, but their trip to Atlantic City is just a cover story to negotiate a deal in order to save Vero’s old flame, Javi. They end up being joined on the trip by Finlay’s mom, kids, and Steven, her ex-husband. It’s really a party when her sister, her sisters FBI fiancée and Nick, Finlay’s detective boyfriend show up. Turns out that this rescue mission is going to be a lot more complicated than they bargained for. Will they be able to pull this off?
Thoughts:
Ah Finlay, what will you get up to now? This book! Ah! It picked up right where we left off in the last book. This is a series that you most definitely need to read in order to get it to make sense, and I’m proud to say I’ve done just that (it doesn’t happen often!). I love all the hijinks that Finaly and Vero get up to and in this one there is no shortage of them. Are these books realistic? Absolutely not. Nothing about them is realistic and I think for me that is why they work so well. They are fun, light-hearted, get lost in pretending, type books and I just love them.
I loved how this book incorporated all my favorite characters despite taking place in Atlantic city, so much fun. We got to see all the recurring characters, just in Atlantic Series. I enjoyed getting to see a softer more relatable side to Steven in this one. Yes, I still hate him, but I appreciated that he was actually trying to have a relationship with his kids in this one. Also, the romance between Finaly and Nicki is amazing, but I love that it isn’t the focal point of the books. I’m all for romance, but it isn’t something I need in this series, though I wouldn’t mind seeing Nick and Finlay go a little further in the future.
The pacing on this one was perfect, which was nice because I didn’t want to put it down. I was so engrossed in the story I just needed to know how it all played out. The writing was very entertaining. I loved how humor was entwined into the pages so that it felt natural and realistic, despite being utterly unrealistic situations.
This series is an auto-read series for me and based on how this one ended, I cannot wait for the next one! This book is the perfect addition to the series and if you’ve loved the first three books, you’ll love this one.
