Synopsis

Kai wakes up in the woods, scared and cold. She doesn’t know where she is, or how she got there. She stumbles into town and takes the handsome blacksmith up on his offer of help. As she searches for more answers, she only finds more questions. Who is she? Why does she have to get to the Sea of Devour? Will she ever remember?

Thoughts:
This is my favorite romantasy of the year, hands down. I loved it so much. The story starts with a bang, or a fall really, and then it just takes off from there. The pacing is so well done, I didn’t want to put this one down at all. I ended up finishing this book in about 5 hours, over two sittings, and it hurt that I had to span it over two days. I am still thinking about this one because it was just so well done. The world building was top notch, and I loved how it was done – very unique. It was like little reveals along the way that built up to a truly magical world. The action was well done as well, there was so much of it and Kai is truly a strong female main character done right. The romance between Kai and Jadon was a slow burn with lots of tension and angst. I truly enjoyed how it was done, and slowly built. It wasn’t frustrating at all, and kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for it to pan out. I needed to know what was going to happen with them and then there was a reveal and it was just WOW.

Oh, and it has a special edition with some gorgeous edges (I bought it but didn’t have it in time for my photo).
