Synopsis

Brianna Rogers, frustrated by the principal’s decision to prioritize a football field over a library upgrade, impulsively joins a Mars simulation team to secure prize money for the school’s needs. Despite not being qualified and unable to swim, she finds herself entangled with Roman, a science teacher and the principal’s son, who has been both a source of animosity and attraction. As they navigate the challenges of the simulation, including swim lessons, helicopter flights, and unexpected emotions, Brianna must decide between her dedication to the school and the growing feelings she has for Roman, who she suspects may be hiding something.

Thoughts:

I recently read this book, and I have to say it was alright. I didn’t hate it, but it didn’t quite capture my heart either. I think it has a lot of potential and would recommend it to certain readers who enjoy a mix of supernatural elements and reluctant alliances.

One thing I appreciated about the book was the unique concept of Alex Lawson, a small-town outcast who finds her place in an online fan forum for a werewolf detective show. I could relate to her dedication and passion for archiving supernatural lore, and it was interesting to see her transition from internet fame to dealing with real-life supernatural occurrences. The character of Devin Ashwood added an intriguing twist to the story, especially with his spiraling career and mysterious transformation after the Wolf Blood Moon.

The dynamic between Alex and Devin was both entertaining and frustrating at times. I enjoyed their initial animosity and the gradual shift towards becoming reluctant allies. Their interactions had a mix of humor and tension, which kept me engaged. However, I felt that some parts of their relationship were a bit predictable, and I wished for more surprises along the way.

The supernatural elements, including werewolves and the Wolf Blood Moon, were well-executed and added a layer of excitement to the plot. The author’s creativity in blending these elements with the characters’ personal struggles was commendable. That said, there were moments when the pacing felt slow, and I found myself wanting the story to pick up the pace.

Overall, while this book wasn’t my favorite, I think it has its merits and would appeal to readers who enjoy supernatural stories with a touch of romance and humor. It was an enjoyable read, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression on me.
