Overall Take:
Love a good road trip book
Star Rating:
4 Stars
Genre:
Sapphic Romance
Synopsis:
Logan and Rosemary used to be friends, until they weren’t. They’ve gone ten years without speaking, until their beloved English teacher and lifelong mentor tells them he only has a few months to live. His dying wish is that the two of the take him on a cross-country road trip. The only van they can find is the gayest van south of the Mississippi and they set forth from Washington to Maine.
Thoughts:
This was a super cute sapphic romance story, but it was also so much more, it was also a story about loss and love. I usually read light and fluffy romcoms, but I love how a good romcom can take a deep issue and make it easy to digest, and that is exactly what happened here. I particularly loved the romance between the two main characters. It was delicate and kind, and showed how a little bit of kindness and compassion can go a long way, especially when it comes to relationships. The found family was also wonderful. I love a good found family and this book was just lovely.
I will say that this book does deal with a terminal illness of Joe, and it doesn’t sugar coat some issues that go along with having a terminal illness. I do think that the book might go far to try to brush these things off, and it was a little cringe and made me uncomfortable for the language used, but I think the rest of the book was well done.
This book will make you laugh, and then cry. I felt so many emotions while reading it.
If you’re looking for a good road trip story and want it sapphic and with a found family, then you need to check this out.
