If Only You – Bergman Brothers #6

5 Star

Overall Take:
This is such a fun and sweet romcom, I’m buying the whole series

Star Rating:
5 Stars

Genre:
Romance, Rom-Com, Sports Romance, Slow Burn Romance

Synopsis:
Ziggy is the youngest of the Bergman clan and is sick of being underestimated. She’s also the youngest player on the National Soccer Team. She’s ready for her angelic image to get a makeover so for some help she turns to her brother Ren’s best friend, the bad boy of the hocky team, Sebastian.

Neither of them expected to develop feelings for each other, but now that they have, it seems silly not to act on them…

Thoughts:
Chloe Liese has quickly become one of my favorite authors. She is amazing and handles disability rep amazingly. In each of her books we have different disabilities. This book had autism and celiac disease. I didn’t know that going into it, but when she was talking about how Seb was diagnosed with Celiac, and how he worries at every function about having gluten free options, I legit cried. Every time the word pizza party or birthday party is mentioned I cry a little for my daughter because while she isn’t Celiac, she is allergic to wheat. Not the same, but similar treatments and we eat mostly gluten free. It is a struggle, but thankfully a lot of people are understanding and there are more options now than ever before.

Ziggy was also an amazing character and so multi-faceted. Seb was also a lot of fun. I loved how Seb was such a bad boy, but we got to know his vulnerable side and why he portrayed himself the way he did. It was truly heartbreaking and just a great story to read. Ziggy helped him so much, and the way she did it was great. And when they came together, watch out! The chemistry was off the page and just fabulous. The spicy scenes were well done, and I enjoyed them. This one does get fairly spicy, but the underlying story is beautiful, so the spice felt natural to me.

I have loved this series so much, and while I read it all out of order, it is one I plan on finishing because it is just that good. I really enjoyed how the characters are flawed but together they worked through them, and while yes it was obvious, they would fall in love, the journey was amazing. While I don’t always appreciate a slow burn romance, in this case it worked for me. I would have enjoyed it less had it happened sooner, which is saying a lot.
