The research project she is working on for college gets her all tangled up with nobility and secrets, and she ends up finding love along the way…or loves? Abbey has a lot to answer for in such a short amount of time, can she make her dad understand? And who’s heart is going to get broken?

Thoughts:
What a fun read! I recently loved Elle Kennedy’s release The Graham Effect, so was really excited for Girl Abroad. This was a detour from hockey romances, but it was still so much fun! This one was a little bit of a slow burn, and then it turned into a love triangle – oh la la! This is a trope that is sometimes hit or miss for me, but in this book, it was a huge hit. I did find Abbey to be a bit indecisive, but honestly, I was too at 19 and I may still be at my current age – ha, so I was okay with it. I do understand why she was indecisive, she had led such a sheltered life despite having her dad be a top-notch rockstar so now that she had some freedom she was going for it. I did appreciate her journey and the growth that she experienced. It was a little unnerving to have to wait until almost the very, very end to find out who she picked though – oh the suspense! But it was fun, and I loved every minute of it.

When I read a new adult novel it’s always fun to think back to my own struggles at that age, and then I revel in all the fun that authors have with their characters’ stories. Abbey’s story was such a fun journey, and the writing was top notch, just what I’ve expected to come to expect from Elle Kennedy. All the characters were well done, including the side characters. It was so much fun getting all their stories and learning about them. At first, I was a little overwhelmed there were so many characters, but it was actually pretty easy to keep them straight because they all had such distinct histories and stories.

I’ve read so many hockey romances by Elle Kennedy that I was a little hesitant to pick this one up. But oh my gosh it was just so good I’m so thankful I did. I loved it just as much, maybe even more than her hockey romances.

This book was written in such a way that it made me wish that it was a movie. It would just be so much fun. The whole plot held my interest, not only the romance plot, but the secondary plot as well. I was on the edge of my seat with that one. I had a pretty good idea of how that one would turn out and I was so happy when it went the way I wanted it to go.

I wish that I would have been able to do a semester abroad, but since I didn’t, I’ll just have to live vicariously through my book characters like Abbey, and thanks to writing like this, I can.

This book was just so much fun and it’s one that I wish I could experience for the first time again.
